I began my career in community services 17 years ago as a part-time Recreation Leader for the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department. It was here that I learned to developed, coordinate, market and evaluated numerous recreation-based programs, which included various sports, summer day camps, and school based recreation programming.
I have a strong history of collaboration with city, county, and federal agencies, while supporting community, faith-based, non-profit and for-profit organizations. For 3 years I was the Program Coordinator for the Office of Economic Development within the City of San Jose. It was here that I created wrap-around services for disfranchised young adults by developing collaborative partnerships with organizations outside city government. I also developed intern to hire positions for program participates allowing the opportunity to gain valuable work experience with the option of job placement. At the time I was also responsible for outreach and admission, so I established and still hold a network for multimedia marketing and outreach efforts in television and radio, which I included in this profile.
My record of achievements is exemplary and others have characterized me as a talented workforce development professional. I have proven to connect to people, and have a clear understanding of assets needed in today’s job market. I enjoy working with others and understand the importance of the community perception within any organization.
